Community Connections

Community Connections is a service offered by the DHS that connects those in need of short-term support to their communities. The program is available for anyone aged 18-64 who are not eligible for NDIS or My Aged Care support. More information is available at https://dhs.sa.gov.au/how-we-help/community-connections

Support Coordination

Connected Beginnings

The Connected Beginnings Program provides support to families, and children aged 0-5 years. This program aims to give children confidence and the ability to be ready for school, while also providing support to strengthen families and communities.

One-on-one Mentoring Support

Our One-on-one Mentoring Support program provides participants with tailored support to engage in community, social, and recreational activities, through the guidance of an Aboriginal mentor or support person.

Back to Ochre: Women’s Art Group

Back to Ochre meet every Tuesday 10am to 2pm at Kura Yerlo’s Port Adelaide premises and offers a space for female Aboriginal and Zenadth Kes (Torres Strait Islander) participants to explore both cultural and contemporary artistic techniques.

Zebra Finch Aboriginal Men’s Group

Zebra Finch is a group for Aboriginal and Zenadth Kes (Torres Strait Islander) men over 50.

Women’s Health & Wellbeing Group (Aunties Group)

The Aunties Group offers social, recreational, and cultural activities for Aboriginal and Zenadth Kes (Torres Strait Islander) women aged 50+ across Adelaide.

Elder Care Support Services

Kura Yerlo’s Elder Care Program aims to provide assistance with navigating and understanding the My Aged Care system.

Kurruru Arts and Culture Hub

Kurruru provides an engaging school holiday program centred around cultural, artistic, and activities. On every third Saturday of the month, we host Culture Hub. We also host the following events on a monthly basis: School Holiday Program, Nunga Dance, Special Events.

Children's Centre

The Kura Yerlo Children’s Centre provides childcare and preschool for children from birth to 5years, with priority to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. We provide full time and part time care to children between Mon - Fri 7.30am – 5.30pm. We also host Nunga Playgroup every Wednesday 10am to 12pm at Kura Yerlo’s Childcare.

NDIS Men's Group

The NDIS Men's Group offers a social space where Aboriginal and Zenadth Kes (Torres Strait Islander) men can come together in a supportive men's shed environment. The group meets every Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM.

Youth Services

Our Youth Services include: Youth Group, Cultural Mentoring, Walk With Me, and Program Case Management.

Kumangka Karrarendi Disability Support Group

For over 30 years, Kumangka Karrarendi has provided disability support services through developing Aboriginal cultural and community connection.
